Adopt a Bone

We need your support!
The Charleston Marine Life Center project depends almost entirely on contributions of private foundations, companies and individuals. You can assist by contributing time, skills, specimens, or tax-deductable funds. Specifically, you may be a proud participant by:

  • Sponsoring an exhibit
  • Donating funds (tax deductable)
  • Volunteering as a docent or aquarist
  • Helping construct whale skeletons
  • Adopting a whale bone (see below)

Adopt a Bone to Help the Marine Life Center! The twin focal points of the Marine Mammal Gallery will be complete re-articulated skeletons of an Orca (Killer Whale) and a California Gray Whale. The specimens, already clean and in hand, will be assembled in place once their gallery has been completed. You have the opportunity to adopt bones or skeletons for a tax deductible contribution. Your name and your bone will be identified on a commemorative plaque displayed permanently in the museum. Bones are priced for every budget and donors of $500 or more will receive a realistic resin cast of one of our killer whale’s teeth. Adopt today!
Adopting is easy! Just select your favorite bone from the list and drop us a note with your choice. Your check should be made out to OIMB. Consider a gift donation… your kids or grandkids will love spotting their own special bone or tooth on one of the huge skeletons when they visit!
