Head Field Specialist, Oceans Research

Currently, I am the Head Field Specialist for Oceans Research, stationed in Mossel Bay, South Africa. I interned for them during my time at the University of Oregon and returned as a seasonal field specialist before being offered the Head Field Specialist job. In this role, I am in charge of training all staff on our research projects and equipment and organizing the day to day schedule of all staff and interns. I am in charge of projects such as our plastic trawl and dolphin acoustic projects. As part of the Mossel Bay Stranding Network that deals with marine mammal stranding, I am the instructor for the response course as well as trained in performing in-field necropsies.
