Student Voices: Marine Environmental Issues

Marine Environmental Issues

The Marine Environmental Issues course is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself into all of the marine issues facing our oceans. The course consisted of many field trips to local habitats altered by human impacts and places initiating those impacts, like the dunes, marshes, and a sewage treatment plant (a surprisingly fun and informative fieldtrip) that really put a perspective on what marine areas are being affected and how they are being affected. I learned valuable lessons through these field trips and through independent work and research that have increased my awareness in marine issues drastically. These experiences have prompted me to reconsider some of my own lifestyle choices. For all of these reasons I feel that this is an essential course to take here at the OIMB.
